• Meet R2D2 and BB-8, at Wilmington Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Josh Montgomery, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and his students from Southern State Community College will present about the journey of building these Star Wars Droids. There will be demonstrations and photo-ops. Fun and informative for all ages.

• The Clinton County Pilots & Friends Association will be hosting Wings and Wheels, a fly-in car show, at the Clinton County Airport at 1581 North Curry Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees who buy a breakfast or lunch for $10 can get a free ride in an airplane.

• Sabina Historical Society’s annual cemetery walk at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12. A virtual tour of the mausoleums located in the cemetery will be held in the Sophia Vennemen Memorial Chapel. A history of the five remaining mausoleums, the two which have been torn down, and one donated to the cemetery will be featured. The program is free but donations will be gladly accepted. Light refreshments will be served.

• “Conversations That Count,” sponsored by Clinton County A.C.T. (Alliance for Compassion and Truth), will discuss Chapters 1-8 of Timothy Snyder’s “On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century,” on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10-11:30 a.m., at the Wilmington Public Library. This is the second of three monthly discussions of Snyder’s bestselling handbook on the warning signs of authoritarianism. The series is open to the public.

• Clinton Memorial Hospital will join in an international “Wave of Light” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Attendees will be invited to write a message on a colored ribbon and hang it from a tree on the hospital campus. Attendees will then be invited to join a candle light ceremony at dusk, where a CMH chaplain will provide a brief message of remembrance and a moment of silence. The candle lighting will take place at 7 p.m. with the event concluding shortly after.

• Clinton County Republican Women’s Club is hosting a Meet and Mingle with local candidates on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn on Rombach Avenue, Wilmington. Space is limited: RSVP to [email protected].
