BROOK PARK, Ohio (AP) — A highway worker has been killed and another badly injured when a car drove through a work zone on an interstate outside Cleveland.

Authorities say a woman’s car struck the workers around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 71 in Brook Park.

The worker who was killed died at the scene. The other worker was found unresponsive and was hospitalized. His condition hasn’t been released.

The workers and the driver haven’t been identified. Police say the woman was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment.

Brook Park Police Chief Thomas Dickel says the woman and her car were found about a mile from the work zone.

Ohio Department of Transportation spokesman Matt Bruning said on Twitter that four highway workers were killed in the state last year.
