WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Public Library had some special guests Saturday that were out of this world as R2D2, BB8 and the Curiosity Mars Rover wowed patrons.

R2D2 was built by Professor Josh Montgomery from Southern State Community College and his students were present to show off their progress in building BB8 and a Mars Rover for a class at SSCC.

BB8 is being built by Shelby De Roziere, Ian Hunter and Billy Henry, and the Mars Rover is being built by Jake Williams and Mary Mundt.

These students hope to have fully functional droids by the end of the semester.

R2D2 was one of the droids locals were looking for at the Wilmington Public Library on Saturday.
