County to host damage assessment seminar

WILMINGTON — Clinton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will host a free Damage Assessment Seminar on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The seminar will look at the process and method of conducting post-disaster assessments and also provide supplemental information learned from the Memorial Day tornadoes that struck Montgomery and Greene Counties earlier this year.

The seminar is free and open to the public, with an emphasis on individuals with responsibilities in post-disaster assessment. The seminar is also intended for individuals interested in debris management or staffing the county Emergency Operations Center, as well as county, township, village, and city employees who are interested in post-disaster assistance.

The seminar will be held in the County Annex Building on South Nelson Avenue in Wilmington from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22.

“Damage assessment is a critical preliminary evaluation of damages or losses caused by an accident or natural disaster. This survey helps to enable efforts to determine if state or federal assistance would be made available for recovery efforts,” said Clinton County EMA Director Thomas Breckel.

Seminar attendees are requested to register by contacting EMA at 937-382-6673.
