Students win flight training with essays

Makensie Anderson of Wilmington High School took first place in the four-school writing contest sponsored by Great Plains Enterprises, LLC Flight Training Center at the Clinton County Airport in Wilmington. Makensie won 10 hours of flight training from a certified flight instructor.

The contest involved Wilmington, East Clinton, Clinton-Massie High and Blanchester high schools. Each applicant had to write a 1,000-word essay describing “Why I Would Like to Learn to Fly.”

Second-place winners were Briana Brunke of Wilmington High School and Noah Pattan of East Clinton High School. Each second-prize winner receive five hours of flight training with a certified flight instructor at Great Plains Enterprises.

Dakota Johnson from Blanchester High School won third prize consisting of one hour of flight training with a certified flight instructor.
