BLANHCESTER — A Blanchester man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his father, police said.

On Sunday at around 11 a.m. a Blanchester police officer was called to 145 Orchard Circle. A Clinton County Sheriff’s deputy was at the residence and had arrested Timothy Whitworth, 48, for an assault that occurred earlier in the day, according to a news release from Blanchester police.

“While making the arrest, the deputy learned that Whitworth had assaulted his father, with whom he resides, on Thursday,” stated Police Chief Scott Reinbolt.

Reinbolt said Ptl. Tyler Smith spoke with the victim, age 68, who reported Whitworth “became angry at him on Thursday and punched him numerous times about the head,” said Reinbolt. “The victim still had visible injuries and stated he was afraid to report the assault due to his fear of Whitworth. Whitworth resides in the victim’s home.”

Ptl. Smith swore out a complaint charging Timothy Whitworth with domestic violence; he has also been charged with criminal mischief for taking control of the victim’s cell phone in order to prevent him calling the police after the incident, stated Reinbolt.

He said Whitworth was already in the county jail on the assault charge filed by the deputy, so the new charges were served on him at the jail. He will answer the charges in the Clinton County Municipal Court.
