WILMINGTON — Fresenius Kidney Care, the dialysis division of Fresenius Medical Care North America, invites the community to attend an open house celebration on Thursday, Dec. 19 at its new center in Wilmington.

Fresenius Kidney Care Wilmington Home has the capacity to treat up to 72 patients a week. Patients, healthcare providers, and members of the community will be able to tour the center and learn about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and home dialysis.

Fresenius Kidney Care Wilmington Home is located at 164 Holiday Drive (off Rombach Avenue) in Wilmington. The open house will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 19. Light refreshments will be available, and the event is free.

At the open house at Fresenius Kidney Care Wilmington Home, local experienced medical professionals will be available to discuss patient services and the latest dialysis treatment options, stated a Fresenius media release. Those options include home peritoneal dialysis, offering the most flexibility to dialyze on a schedule that’s right for you, day or night, in the comfort of your home.

With more frequent dialysis, people on peritoneal dialysis often have fewer dietary restrictions and better outcomes.

Another dialysis treatment option is home hemodialysis — offering many of the same benefits as home peritoneal dialysis such as greater flexibility, fewer food restrictions and better outcomes — and may require care partner support.

And a third dialysis treatment option is in-center dialysis, taking place in a kidney dialysis center under the supervision of a care team.

Medical professionals also will be available to discuss how the center’s care team meets patients’ physical and emotional needs by individualizing their care.

In addition, they can discuss how FreseniusRx renal-trained pharmacists can help dialysis patients manage their medications; how to begin the search for a transplant; and how to sign up for Fresenius Kidney Care’s free KidneyCare:365 class to learn more about kidney disease.
