MIDLAND — A Midland man faces a charge of attempted murder after police say he shot his father on New Year’s Day.

According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday at approximately 1:20 a.m. a 911 call was received advising of a person being shot at 1345 Lazenby Road, Midland.

Communications officers immediately dispatched deputies and EMS personnel to the scene.

“Sgt. Garrett Benton was the first officer to arrive at the scene, at which time he encountered a male subject outside of the residence who indicated that he had just shot his father,” said CCSO Col. Brian Prickett.

Prickett said the suspect was taken into investigative custody without incident and was later identified as Brandon Breezley, 23, of the same address.

“Additional responding officers arrived to find the victim of the shooting identified as David Breezley, age 55, lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his head and neck area,” said Prickett.

He said Wilmington EMS and Blanchester EMS responded to the scene to render aid to David Breezley, who was flown from the scene by Miami Valley CareFlight and “is expected to survive his injuries.”

Brandon Breezley was transported to the Clinton County Jail and is being held on charges of attempted murder, a felony of the first degree, and felonious assault, a felony of the second degree, with a bond of $200,000, said Prickett.

“We would like to thank the Sabina Police Department and the Blanchester Police Department for their assistance during this incident,” he added.
