A man was arrested Friday in Blanchester and charged with Rape and Gross Sexual Imposition.

On Friday afternoon, Feb. 5, Blanchester Police assisted the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of Michael Workman, 41, in the 200 block of Highland Avenue, according to Blanchester Police Chief Scott Reinbolt. Workman, who was wanted on a warrant by the Clermont County Sheriff, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Clermont County Jail.

The victim of his offense is reportedly a minor child; the alleged crime took place in Wayne Twp., Clermont County, according to Clermont County Sheriff A. J. Rodenberg.

Workman is currently being held in the Clermont County Jail on a $750,000 cash bond. “This investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the Clermont County grand jury on Feb. 16 for consideration of the above described charges,” according to Rodenberg.

Reinbolt said the alleged perpetrator “has, in the past, been active in Blanchester area Cub Scouts and local religious organizations.”
