Lighting the star of hope

WILMINGTON — During a time when some residents may be feeling dire and low, one company decided to help by bringing in a festive vibe.

Buckley Brothers Drive-Thru Barn has decided to light up the Christmas star on top of their feed mills.

Anthony Mojica, the drive-thru manager, told the News Journal that people had been reaching out to them via Facebook about the star.

“People from as far as Morrow have asked us to light the star up,” said Mojica.

After bringing the idea up with owner Mark Buckley, they decided to light it up. This coincided with others who have decided to display Christmas lights as a way of spreading hope and cheer.

“Lots of people have been seeing the star and it’s always put out this feeling of togetherness and hope during this time of isolation,” said Mojica. “It’s as good a time as ever to have hope.”

The Facebook post has had a little over 400 likes since Monday and it has been shared over 200 times. The shares have ranged from locals to people in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Mojica said they’re planning on keeping it lit up until the pandemic is over.

He hopes that by having the star lit up, locals will see it and help them realize “we’re all this together.”
