WILMINGTON — Matt Harvey retired from Champion Bridge on East Sugartree Street in Wilmington on May 28 after nearly 42 years as a skilled fabricator.

Harvey, a Clinton-Massie graduate, joined Champion Bridge in 1979 as a laborer. He quickly became one of Champion Bridge’s most valuable employees, states a news release from the company.

Harvey’s attention to detail and his skill as a welder have well-served Champion Bridge and its customers for many years.

Champion Bridge owner Randy Dell and his wife Diane hosted a farewell dinner in Harvey’s honor, where he was joined by his wife, his two daughters and their families, and his parents.

“He will be missed by all at Champion Bridge,” said the news release.
