SABINA — Destiny Trefz of Greenfield is a Swine Time 101 intern for the summer at a managed sow farm near Sabina, announced AMVC Management Services.

Throughout her 10-week internship, Trefz will have hands-on experience with sow production with an on-farm mentor.

“I grew up in the swine industry and have a passion for working with livestock,” said Trefz, who will be starting her junior year in the fall at Wilmington College. “My future plans include becoming a large animal veterinarian, so my time as an AMVC intern will make a great impact on my career.”

Throughout her internship, she will learn various tasks involved in raising pigs and interact with AMVC staff and veterinarians.

“AMVC is very excited to welcome Destiny to the team. I look forward to seeing how far her knowledge and skill base grows while with us this summer. We value her educational background and think she will bring great value to the farm,” said Katie Schimmel, AMVC Recruiter.

AMVC Management Services, based in Audubon, Iowa, is the 10th largest pork producer in the U.S. and employs over 700 employees and 20 veterinarians across 10 states, providing veterinary support, nutritional counseling, results management and employee solutions to managed farms.
