CLEARCREEK TWP., Warren Co. – Impairment is suspected of being a factor in a crash that killed a woman Thursday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lebanon Post.

The OSHP stated that the fatal crash occurred on SR 73 near Bunnell Hill Road in Clearcreek Township at approximately 7:52 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 pickup was being driven westbound on SR 73 by Tommy E. Abner, 48, of Wilmington. The OSHP said Abner drove left of center and struck a 2018 Honda Civic being driven eastbound on SR 73 by Jeri Beth Murray, 51, of Waynesville.

Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Abner was transported to the Kettering Medical Center Hospital in Kettering with minor injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

The OSHP stated impairment is suspected of being a factor in the crash.

Assistance was provided at the scene by the Clearcreek Township Police Department, Springboro Police Department, and Clearcreek Township Fire & EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to online court records, Abner was arraigned in Clinton County Municipal Court earlier this week on charges of domestic violence, criminal damaging and driving under suspension, with not guilty pleas entered for each charge.

His next court appearance on these charges is scheduled for July 7.
