MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — Officers investigating a report that a woman’s body was in a barrel at an Ohio home found exactly that and arrested a man who tossed the barrel over a backyard fence when they showed up.
Police said Wednesday they are investigating the death of the unidentified woman, whose remains were found Tuesday afternoon behind the home in Middletown, roughly halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton.
It wasn’t clear when or how she died. An autopsy was planned.
The man, William Slaton, 35, was jailed on charges of corpse abuse, tampering with evidence and failure to report a crime or death.
A message seeking comment was left for the attorney listed for Slaton in municipal court records.
