Seven members of the East Clinton FFA chapter recently competed in the chapter speaking competition. They used the training learned in class for the FFA Creed, beginning prepared and prepared contest, and the extemporaneous speaking contest. The members who participated had to either write a speech or memorize a speech.
The students who participated were Gracie McCarren, Taylor Boeckmann, Veronica Brewer, Shelby Williams, Olivia Wood, Hannah Pickering and Peyton Vest.
Taylor won the chapter creed, then participated in sub-district at Miami Trace, finishing second and qualifying for districts where she competed in her heat.
Veronica Brewer place first at sub-districts and then moved on to compete in her heat as Hannah Pickering placed second overall and moved on in the Prepared contest.
Peyton Vest placed fourth in the extemporaneous contest at the sub-district contest.
Agricultural Sales competition
Four members of the East Clinton FFA chapter recently competed in the District 9 FFA competition at Talawanda High school.
Emma Mathews, Victoria Jamison, Zach Bernard and Mark Stewart placed fifth overall selling different items and agricultural products. The contest consisted of the members of the team selling items in a sales presentation. They then had to do a sales practicum and take a sales test.
The team enjoyed the experience very much and hopes to continue learning different methods and areas to help in agricultural sales.
FFA contest
Two members of the East Clinton FFA chapter recently competed in a FFA contest at John Deere in Wilmington.
Dallas Fyffe and Dakota Zurface had the opportunity to work with employees of JD Equipment and run tests on the equipment. They competed in a contest which tests safety of working on equipment and maintenance of the equipment. The team finished well and enjoyed the experience. The team was coached by Ruth Earley.
