Clinton County’s jobless rate improves to 11.1 percent

COLUMBUS — Clinton County’s unemployment rate improved to 11.1 percent in June, according to data released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The state agency reported there were about 2,000 unemployed people in Clinton County in June. That means 300 Clinton Countians went from being jobless in May to having a job in June.

The 11.1 percent local unemployment rate in June is an improvement over Clinton County’s May rate of 12.9 percent. Clinton County’s April rate was 17.2 percent.

Clinton County’s rate of 11.1 percent in June is exactly the same as Ohio’s statewide rate in June of 11.1 percent (these rates for both Clinton County and for the state are not seasonally adjusted).

Of the six counties that geographically touch Clinton County, Highland County had the highest unemployment rate in June: 11.o percent.
