Highland Sheriff: Sabina man tried to flee police, faces drug charges

One suspect has been arrested on drug charges after police say he and others fled officers during a traffic stop Sunday.

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said that on March 6 after deputies received information of a person gathering items to manufacture methamphetamine. Then while following up on the information, deputies located the suspect vehicle.

Barrera said that when deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on Straight Creek Road in Brushcreek Township, the suspects fled.

Dakota Evans, 22, of Sabina, was apprehended and charged with illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture drugs. He was also charged with driving under suspension.

Evans was arraigned Monday in Hillsboro Municipal Court where a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 17.

Another suspect is still being sought in connection with the matter, according to Barrera.
