VFW Auxiliary shines up memorial

WILMINGTON — VFW Post 6710 Auxiliary met at the Wilmington Veterans Memorial on Sunday for a pre-Veterans Day clean-up.

The annual Veterans Day Remembrance ceremony will be held 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. Attendees are asked to wear a mask, social distance, and, if you are ill, please stay home.

The Clinton County Veterans Service Commission explained that community volunteers clean the memorial throughout the year; however, recent restrictions have reduced volunteer assistance since March. With the Commission’s blessing, the Auxiliary completed community service project hours through this clean-up effort.

VFW Auxiliaries dedicate themselves to helping veterans and their families, promoting Americanism, supporting hospital programs and the Buddy Poppy program.

VFW Post 6710 Auxiliary welcomes new members and meets the third Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Post Home.
