Wilmington High School is proud to announce its January Students of the Month:

Ag Ed Department — Grace Brown

Grace Brown is the Ag Department Student of the Month for January. Grace is an active member of the Wilmington FFA Chapter. Grace is currently serving as the 2020-2021 FFA Secretary. She has diligently worked on her officer book, was of significant help during the annual fruit sale, and dedicates her time to her studies at Wilmington and SSCC. Grace always comes to school and FFA events with a great attitude and willingness to help her classmates. I am very excited to see Grace start the next chapter of her life at the University of Findlay, I know that her experiences at WHS will help her soar!

Choir Department — Makenna Tolliver

Makenna has shown an outstanding knowledge of music all year, but has shown that even more-so this month specifically. She comes in each day prepared for whatever we’re doing that class. Makenna is a strong leader, and someone her peers get along well with.

Foreign Language Department — Joshua Schraw

Joshua Schraw is the embodiment of compassion, empathy, and commitment to learning. In Advisory, he takes the lead in creating an inclusive space and is a friend to anyone, not just in word but in deed. He shows respect to his teachers by opening discussion about things that could be improved, seeking answers, and sharing solutions. And in Spanish, he quickly overcame a slow start not only by committing himself to completing assignments but also by spending extra time learning through online apps. The SOTM award is well deserved.

English Department — Riley Ibaugh

Riley Ibaugh is the Student of the Month for the English Department. Riley is always full of energy and humor, which helps to contribute to our class discussion and work. As we dealt with the online classes this year, Riley consistently contributed with both discussion questions and feedback. He is insightful and entertaining in a way that helps to drive the work we do in class. It has been a blast teaching him so far, and I’m excited to see what he has in store for the remainder of the school year.

Band Department — Keifer Agnew

The Band program is happy to honor Keifer Agnew as our January Student of the Month. Keifer is a dedicated student demonstrating a care for personal growth and positive contribution to the class. Keifer is consistently prepared for class and regularly practices new concepts outside of class in order to continue to grow on a daily basis.

Math Department — Briston Plymire

Briston has shown wonderful efforts in Algebra 1 this year. She always comes to class prepared and ready to participate. She helps other students in her class and volunteers her answers and thoughts regularly. We greatly enjoy having Briston in class and look forward to watching her grow as a math student!

Theatre Department — Katie Murphy

Katie works hard as a student and an athlete. She also finds time to participate in the theatre program. In class Katie wants to “get it right” and will ask clarifying questions to be able to complete her work properly. The questions she asks are usually the same ones other students have, but she is bold enough to ask in class. As a varsity athlete Katie is busy after school with practices and games, yet still finds time to audition and participate in theatre productions as well. Katie has good time management skills to accomplish everything and perform at a high level.

PE/Health Department — Jordan Tackett

Jordan brings an excellent attitude to PE everyday. He has great energy and enthusiasm. He is quick to lend a helping hand to either me or a fellow student and consistently encourages others to be involved and participate. Keep up the great work Jordan.

Science Department — Jerika Huston

Jerika always puts for excellent effort. She advocates for herself and keeps trying even when the content is tough.
