Lone Oregon cheetah cub joins orphaned cubs at Cincy zoo

CINCINNATI (AP) — A lone Oregon cheetah cub has found a new family at an Ohio zoo.

The male cub arrived at a nursery at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on Saturday. He was born in late February at the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon, but was unable to be cared for by his mother.

The animal park and Cincinnati zoo agreed it would be beneficial for the cub to join four premature cubs— two males and two females — in Cincinnati. The cubs were delivered March 8 via C-section and orphaned shortly afterward. They are currently in critical care.

Zoo officials say it will be a week or two before the older cub is introduced to the other four.

All five cubs are expected to become ambassadors for their endangered species.
