Oho jobless claims dip in past week

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services provided updated data this week on Ohio’s unemployment claims filed the week of June 6-12.

Ohioans filed 15,866 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 358 fewer than the previous week. Ohioans filed 195,663 continued traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 3,029 fewer than the previous week.

A total of 3,593 initial Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims were filed last week, which was 2,198 more than the previous week.

Ohioans filed 251,919 continued PUA claims last week, which was 3,620 fewer than the previous week.

The total number of claims filed from June 6-12 was 467,041.

Ohio’s labor force participation rate in April was 62.3%.

Ohio’s unemployment rate in April was 4.7%; the national rate in April was 6.1%.
