Summer music’s in the air: McGuffey Lane kicks off free outdoor concert series in Wilmington

WILMINGTON — It should be a beautiful summer evening as legendary Ohio country-rock band McGuffey Lane kicks off the Summer Concert Series presented by Rock the Block Wilmington at 7 p.m. Friday (July 2) on Sugartree Street in Wilmington.

Tin Cap and The Escape will be open and ready to serve you along Sugartree Street.

Bring a lawn chair if you wish and enjoy the evening and McGuffey Lane, which recorded with Atlantic Records and has toured with Charlie Daniels, the Allman Brothers, The Judds and the Marshall Tucker Band.

The band is in the midst of touring Ohio, with a concert in Zanesville Thursday night prior to the Wilmington event, then one at Groveport Saturday night.

The weekend of July 8-10 they’ll be performing during Day 2 of the huge annual Country Concert in Fort Loramie; also on stage that night are County Music Hall-of-Famer Alan Jackson, Justin Moore, Lorrie Morgan, Riley Green, the Bellamy Brothers and Jesse Keith Whitley. Featured artists the other two days include Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, Neal McCoy and Jo Dee Messina.

Turn It Up

In Wilmington next week at 7 p.m. Friday, July 9 the series on Sugartree Street continues with Turn It Up, The Lynyrd Skynyrd Experience, “dedicated to the authentic sound that was instrumental in bringing southern rock to the masses.”

The events are sponsored by the Clinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Wilmington.
