The Blanchester, Wilmington and Sabina Chapters of Modern Woodmen of America recently hosted a supply drive partnering with the New Vienna Community Church. Chapter members and church members donated supplies, culminating on Father’s Day.

It was an effort that Pastor Dan Mayo headed up as part of his 40th anniversary of pastoral ministry. He began pastoring on June 20, 1981, Father’s Day. The drive netted about $2,000 of food for this vital community ministry.

Modern Woodmen chapters do service work each year as a commitment to being a non-profit and giving back to the community. Pastor Mayo wanted to do this as part of the celebration as a way of demonstrating what ministry is all about, serving people in need in compassionate care ministry.

Mayo, also a Financial Representative with Modern Woodmen, said, “We are thrilled to be able to help Sugartree with this program and we are grateful for the great work being done at Sugartree to help those in need. They feed many people each week as part of their program and it is joy to help and to know that perhaps some will not go to bed hungry tonight.”
