Cemetery bridge on hold

Visitors to Sugar Grove Cemetery may have noticed that it’s been a while since any construction work has been done on the new bridge being built across Lytle Creek — and what has been completed is under a tarp.

“The contractor is still waiting on half-inch button head bolts/hardware for the rehab,” City of Wilmington Safety & Service Director Brian Shidaker told the News Journal. “They are having a much longer lead time than what is typical. They have been reaching out to other sources, but with no luck on sooner deliveries.

Shidaker said he’s been told that the contractor anticipates a delivery of the trusses to the site during the week of November 29.
