East Clinton Class of 1971 reunites

The 50-year reunion of the East Clinton High School Class of 1971 weekend began Friday, Sept. 24 with golf at Snow Hill Country Club, arranged by Dick Mandrell, and ended Saturday, Sept. 25 at McCoy Place with a delicious meal for 31 classmates and their guests.

Being thankful that we were able together was recognized with a toast by Teda Bowermaster Henline, and those no longer with us were honored with a special display put together by classmate Ken Johnson and his wife, Josie.

To thank those who served our country, a donation was made to Operation Cherrybend.

Classmates in attendance were: Row 1 — Barbara Garber Hickey, Jennie Sharp Meriweather, Jenny Smalley Slagle, Elaine Fife Barrett, Ken Johnson, Brenda Newman Willett, Dan Custis, and Penny Gray Fouch; Row 2 – Richard Kelso, Robert Pauley, Teda Bowermaster Henline, Jayme Littleton Matulevich, Catherine Anderson McDonald, Denise Goff Davis, Kay Reese Shepherd, Vicki Hughes Doss, and Denise Brumley Maier; and Row 3 – Alan Chance, Gary “Pete” Thomas, Mark Laymon, Steve Chaney, Bruce Cornett, Jack Pinkerton , George Gray, Dick Mandrell, Mark Allen, James Knauff, Beth Miller Green, Don Carnahan, Jeannie Bishop Kramer, and Jack Bishop.
