Several seriously injured in pickup truck, horse-drawn buggy crash

HIGHLAND COUNTY – The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash between a pickup truck and a horse-drawn buggy involving several serious injuries.

On Sunday at approximately 4:47 p.m., Garrett Miller, 18, of Hillsboro, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado southwest on State Route 138 in Liberty Township, Highland County. A horse-drawn buggy was also traveling southwest on SR 138 and was struck by the pickup truck, according to a news release from the OSHP.

The buggy was occupied by two adults and four juveniles from the Greenfield area at the time of the crash. The buggy occupants were transported to different hospitals by ground and medical helicopter, the OSHP stated.

The OSHP was assisted by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Creek Fire and EMS, Lynchburg Fire and EMS, Med Flight and CareFlight.

The crash remains under investigation.
