Blan fourth-graders excel in writing

BLANCHESTER — Students in Blanchester Intermediate fourth-grade classes have been working on their writing skills this year.

Earlier in the school year, students wrote persuasive essays to Principal Molitor on ways to improve their school.

Blanchester Intermediate fourth-grader Scarlett Means even added some research to her persuasive piece on the importance of school personnel and students working together to combat bullying.

Students also completed a unit of study on poetry as well. Josey Shelton, another student in Mrs. Kreider’s fourth-grade class, excels in the area of poetry and has been writing poems all her life.

Her poem “The Flag” reads:

“Her waving body

Of stars and stripes

Holds out her fierce arms

For all tonight.

She waves.”
