East Clinton Great Oaks FFA places well at the State Parliamentary Procedure Contest

0

The East Clinton FFA Novice and Advanced Parliamentary Procedures team recently competed at the Sub-District and District, and qualified to compete at the state competitions.

During the competition, each team is asked to conduct a meeting in less than 15 minutes, and each team is given a card with specific motions and abilities that should be properly handled within that time using Robert’s Rules of Order. Then every member of every team is required to take a Parliamentary Procedure basic knowledge test.

The Novice team of Sydney Beiting, Hadlie Clark, Jacob George, Preston Dixon, Thomas Tilton, Mitchell Ellis, Owen Roberts and Barret Beam placed first at Sub Districts, second at Districts, and fifth in the entire state, earning a banner for the school. The team also placed first overall in the Felicity Invitational contest.

The Advanced team of Jenna Stanley, Katie Carey, Carah Anteck, Lydia Kessler, Madison Frazer and Timmi Mahanes placed second in the Sub-Districts, second at Districts, and then missed placing in the state finals by three points to the second overall team in the state.

Both teams demonstrated gold-rated Parliamentary Procedure at the highest level. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped judge and prepare the teams.
