The body found in a Union Township, Clinton County field off US 68 North near Kentucky Avenue in Wilmington Saturday has been identified, according to Clinton County Sheriff Ralph Fizer Jr.

Jeremy Burris, 40, of Oregonia was reported missing to the Wilmington Police Department by a family member on February 2 after he walked away from a North Spring Street residence earlier that day.

A cause of Burris’ death is unknown at this time pending the findings of an autopsy by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of what appeared to be a body lying in a wooded area along a creek line at about 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff Fizer.

Responding officers located a deceased male lying in a wooded area, just a few feet beyond Kentucky Avenue and the Wilmington city limits. Based on the condition of the body, it appeared the body had been there for an extended amount of time, the sheriff stated.

There was no identification on the individual, so the Sheriff’s Office had been awaiting information from the Montgomery County Morgue to assist in obtaining a positive identification.
