WILMINGTON — Despite the drizzle, they came, bought, and hopefully will return next year to the annual Wilmington Garden Club Spring Plant Sale held Saturday at the Clinton County Historical Center Carriage House.
The plants, basically perennials, were grown by members, potted, and then transported — with the help of Sandra Neff-Weir, and her husband, Michael — to the History Center.
Susan Hunt, Carol Davidson, and Kathy Kral were co-chairpersons, assisted by Judy Grosvenor, Diann Nadeau, Vicki Trapp, Mary Thatcher, Judy Stopkotte, Terri Thobaben, and “all the Saturday people who have done their jobs so long and know what to do.”
Shelby Boatman, Executive Director of the History Center, welcomed crafters to display their wares in the Carriage House.
The Plant Sale is the major fundraising effort of the club, which uses proceeds to further Wilmington civic beautification.
The next meeting of the Garden Club will be Monday, June 13 at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Church. Club member Judy Stopkotte will speak on “Raising Beautiful Roses.”
Hostesses will be Mary Thatcher and Linda Compton.
