CLINTON COUNTY EATERIES INSPECTED

The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

Little Caesar’s, 1334 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, June 24. Follow-up.

Critical: In the walk-in cooler: Box of onions dated for use by June 19 and half box of green peppers dated for use by June 19. Packaged cups of cheese sauce and pizza sauce were not dated at all. All product must be properly labeled and dated for use within 7 days. All product must be used or discarded by the “use by” date. Onions and peppers were discarded. Thank you. (2nd Notice.) TILT procedure not being followed. If you are time-holding product, then you must follow approved time-holding procedure. If you can’t or don’t follow approved procedure, then you will have to make to order. (2nd Notice.) Pizza sauce ups on shelf by oven warmers sitting at room temperature are not dated or timed. All product held at time instead of temperature must be dated and times. If you cannot date and time, you must hold at 41°F or below.

Non-critical: There is no employee here with manager certification in food safety. (2nd Notice.) Five employees with no hair restraints. All employees must wear hair restraints (hat, hair net, visor and/or beard net). Four employees put on hair nets. Thank you. (2nd Notice.) Cove molding by mop sink is coming off. Ceiling tiles over hot water heater missing. Wall behind 3-compartment sink is dirty. Wall behind cutting table is dirty. All floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth, easily cleanable, kept in good repair and clean. (2nd Notice.) Vents on pizza ovens are dirty. (2nd Notice.)

Three previous violations have been corrected. Thank you!

Critical: Ice dispenser on the soda machine is dirty. There were three containers of orange juice dated for use by June 6. All food must be properly used or discarded by date on product. Manager removed items from service. Thank you.

Non-critical: Employees not wearing hair restraints. Cabinets under soda machines in retail area were dirty. Cabinets under coffee makers in retail area were dirty. Trash on floor of walk-in cooler (Subway).

Follow-up: Approx. July 28.

Dairy Queen, 1093 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, June 28.

Critical: Dairy Queen cakes in self-service cooler are not locked or labeled. All product available for self-service must be labeled with ingredients, allergens, weight, address of production, and common name. If cooler/freezer is locked and not for self-service, then labels are not required but ingredient list must be made available upon request. Facility does not have sign-off/verification for all illnesses/symptoms. Left new handout. All facilities must ensure employees know when to report illness.

Non-critical: Blast freezer had ice build-up along the door, not allowing it to close properly. Inside of microwave was dirty. Walls in kitchen area had splatter on them. Floors under grill/deep fryer area were dirty.

Follow-up: Approx. July 26.

Kroger, 1230 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, June 28.

Received complaint “regarding employee in meat department with long beard and working without beard net/restraint.”

Non-critical: Found employee in meat department handling food with beard and no restraint. All employees must wear hair restraints.

Note: Discussed dog/animal policy. Will provide policy on service animals only.

Follow-up: Approx. July 26.

Non-critical: Freezer in kitchen had large build-up of ice in bottom of unit.
