Benning honored for service to homeless shelter

Clinton County Homeless Shelter past president and volunteer Sharon Benning was recently presented a commendation from Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, honoring her for her dedication to the shelter. Mr. Rosenberger’s tribute:

“On behalf of the members of the House of Representatives of the 131st General Assembly of Ohio, I am pleased to extend special recognition to Sharon Benning on the occasion of your retirement from the Clinton County Homeless Shelter,” wrote Rosenberger. “Throughout your distinguished service with (CCHS), you have demonstrated an unwavering dedication performing your duties and fulfilling your responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Previously serving the Shelter as a chair of the Technicolor Cardboard City Team, you became a member of its Board in 2011, and, most recently, you have held the post of Board President. Always sincere and energetic in your approach to your work, you have given freely of your time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and have displayed a genuine commitment to attaining your goals in a skillful and professional manner.

“The enthusiasm and generosity you have shown in your endeavors have earned you the respect and admiration of all those with whom you have worked. As you reflect on your tenure, you have the satisfaction of knowing you have provided a vital service to the community and have established a record of achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate.

“Thus, with great pleasure, I congratulate you on your retirement and salute you as one of Ohio’s finest citizens.”

In addition to this honor, Clinton County Commissioner Pat Haley attended the CCHS Annual Meeting in January and presented a tribute from the commissioners’ office commending Sharon on her work for the Shelter.

“I’m forever grateful for Sharon’s leadership, dedication and enthusiasm in support of the Clinton County Homeless Shelter,” said Homeless Shelter Director Denise Stryker. “Sharon’s creative energy, motivational leadership, and compassion to help those in need, has made an immeasurable impact on the operations of the shelter. Sharon’s commitment, dedication and priority to her family, friends and charities she supports is admirable and we are so blessed to be among them.

“Sharon continues to help promote shelter events and happenings on our Facebook page and shares her marketing talents and ideas to benefit the homeless shelter. Thank you Sharon for all that you do for us, we are so grateful for you and appreciate you more than you will ever know.”
