WILMINGTON — Wilmington High School Students of the Month for September are:

ESE Department: Grace Bowman

If you are fortunate enough to know Grace, then you know why she is our Student of the Month. Grace is friendly, even first thing in the morning, and takes an interest in everyone. She is helpful and active in our community. We are so proud of you, Grace!

Choir Department: Mia Hollingsworth

Mia is a model choir student who exceeds class expectations and provides a great atmosphere with her exuberant positive energy. Mia sings out, is open to try new things, and is consistently bringing her A-game to make choir a better place. Even as an up and coming freshman, Mia shows great leadership qualities and grit to evolve our choir program to a new level.

World Languages: Nathan Ritze

Nathan is such an enthusiastic French II student! He is always willing to volunteer an answer, and he has a great sense of humor. He seems to really appreciate learning the ins and outs of the language and always has a positive attitude. Merci Nathan!

Art Department: Abby Miller

Abby Miller is the Art Department Student of the Month for September. Her willingness to experiment and challenge herself in printmaking has been impressive. She enthusiastically throws herself into an idea and is comfortable with the creative process of success and failure. She responds well to constructive feedback and uses it to grow as an artist. Abby is also an aide for the Art Department and voluntarily assists beginner level art students who need help. We are lucky to have her in our department- keep up the great work Abby!

Health: Sydney McCord

Sydney does a fantastic job each day of being on time, completing her work, and being a stand up role model for other students in and out of the classroom.

Science: Sophie Willett

Sophia has displayed a positive attitude and work environment in science. She completes all work on time and is willing to help others if needed. She is a big supporter in my class when I am unable to assist everyone at once. Great job Sophia, keep up the great work!

Success Academy/Independent Studies: Grace Sutton

Grace always comes to class prepared. She works quietly and diligently without disturbing others. She always sets a good example of studying to those around her. She is also willing to help her fellow students when asked.

Business/Tech Department: Oliver McDermott

Oliver has been a huge asset in his new Tech Internship role with Cane Tech Squad. He put in extra time to help with chromebook distribution and has helped implement our new troubleshooting software. Thank you Oliver for going above and beyond and being a model WHS Student.

Social Studies: Caydence Conner

Caydence is the September Student of the Month for several reasons. She is always prepared for class, participates in discussions, helps peers when needed, and leads with quiet confidence. Caydence is unafraid to ask questions, takes chances, and embodies the Hurricane Spirit!

Ag Department: Hayley Lane

Hayley is a second year member of the Ag Department. This year she is taking Plant/Animal and Livestock Management. Hayley is kind to others, respectful, and is enthusiastic when she comes to class everyday! Hayley has jumped into our content and does a terrific job working with others and isn’t afraid to try new contests and learn new things. This year she is joining the soil judging team in addition to participating in the livestock judging team. Hayley has a passion for agriculture and has been a terrific FFA member!

Band Department: Dani Brannon

Dani is the Band program’s student of the month for September. Dani is a member of both the Wind Ensemble and the Marching Band where she demonstrates some of the best musicianship and leadership qualities in our program. Dani’s ability to take care of individuals while simultaneously teaching the level of excellence that is required in our program demonstrates her student leadership qualities. We are honored to have her as a member of the program and thankful for the legacy she is leaving.
