It not only takes a team effort to gather hurricane relief supplies — it takes a large effort as well as to receive and distribute them in Florida.

WILMINGTON — Liberty Savings Bank, Sewell Motor Express and the Wilmington Rotary Club recently combined efforts with Matthew 25 Ministries of Cincinnati to bring donations to those in need after Hurricane Ian devastated parts of Florida.

Sewell’s Safety Manager Paul Lezotte from Wilmington as well as employees of Liberty Savings Bank of Sarasota donated their time to help deliver and unload items at Myakka Family Worship Center in Myakka, Florida.

Many local volunteers from Myakka were also there to lend a helping hand to those in need.

“I want to thank our Hurricane Ian relief team of Sewell Motor Express, the Wilmington Rotary Club, Matthew 25 Ministries, as well as many Liberty employees,” said Liberty Savings Bank CEO Ryan Powell. “Your quick response, donations and hands-on efforts continue to make a difference for the people in need in Sarasota-Manatee County.”

“According to officials at the worship center, this was the largest donation in one semi they had received to date,” said Jay Sewell of Sewell Motor Express. “They were very appreciative of all those that helped make it possible and send their thanks.”
