WILMINGTON — A Wilmington woman was killed Sunday night in a one-vehicle accident on State Route 350 in Vernon Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Preliminary investigation found that at approximately 10:34 p.m., Ashley M. Maynard, 27, was driving a red 1999 Dodge Dakota westbound on State Route 350, lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree head on.
According to OSHP, Maynard was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Coroner’s Office. State Route 350 was closed during the initial investigation and has since reopened.
The coroner’s office and Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District assisted troopers on scene.
The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.
