WILMINGTON — Mike Jones, former EMA director, was named posthumously as the inaugural recipient of the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Chairman’s Award as part the 2022 Advisory Committee meeting conducted on Dec. 15.

The Chairman’s Award is part of the EMA Guardian Awards program, which is in its second year of recognizing community stakeholders, first responders, and leaders for their actions in helping to protect the community.

The Chairman’s Award recognizes a recipient for their excellence in actions, service, and accomplishments over the span of their career that has contributed to the resilience and safety of the county from natural or man-made disasters within any jurisdiction within the borders of Clinton County.

Jones served at the helm of EMA until his passing in November 2018. The award nomination was made by Col. Brian Prickett of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and was accepted in place of Jones by his sister, Vickie Giannetti, of Goshen, Ohio.
