The 2016 FFA National Convention took place in Indianapolis, Indiana Oct. 19-22 with 23 East Clinton members attending sessions where they listened to inspirational speakers and guests, along with the retiring address of National Eastern Region Vice President Sidney Snider.

The students also attended two educational tours. One tour was of the Schakolad chocolate factory where the students learned the history of chocolate while taste testing the different types. The students also made their own chocolate pops. The second educational tour was of the Kelsey Dairy Farm where the students learned the process of obtaining, storing, and transporting milk.

The chapter also went cave diving and exploring, paintballing, attended a rodeo and concert, and visited the National Convention shopping and exposition centers.

Tyler Stewart and Brice Walker were recognized for being top 4 in the nation in a proficiency area. Brice qualified by winning State in Diversified Crop Production and was recognized as a National Finalist. Tyler qualified by winning State and was recognized as a National Finalist and a National Winner in Wildlife Production.

A larger article will be written on both Tyler’s and Brice’s accomplishments. Brice also was recognized for earning his American degree.

The chapter would like to say a huge thank you to our chaperones Beth Ellis and John Stanley along with our bus driver Ken Sider for driving us all over Indianapolis.
