WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department will being doing beards for a cause.

Starting right after Christmas, Wilmington police officers can have beards for the month of January. To participate, officers will make a donation to a local charity. This year’s charity is Clinton County Youth Council (CCYC), located at 302 W. Sugartree St.

“Wilmington Police have been engaged with CCYC for many years,” said WPD CHief Duane Weyand. “I have on many occasions spoken at CCYC, brought over meals, and lost several rounds of disc golf at CCYC, but I continuously am impressed with the outreach that goes on there. Eric Guindon has done a wonderful job modeling the way for the youth there and I am pleased to select CCYC as our charity for 2017.”

He added that for anyone who wishes to aid in assisting CCYC, they are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Donations can be mailed to their address or by visiting www.ccyouthconcil.org.
