State: County’s financial health good

The Auditor of State’s office recently released its 2015 financial health indicators for all Ohio counties and cities, and Clinton County received a “Positive Outlook”, or green rating, for 16 of the 16 applicable indicators, announced Clinton County Auditor Terry Habermehl.

The Auditor of State indicated it is important to consider these indicators in total and not to place too much reliance on just one indicator, and that approximately 80 percent of the counties received at least one yellow indication.

“Clinton County is a fiscally conservative county, and we are very aware of our financial situation, so this high rating does not come as a surprise,” Habermehl said. “Financial stability does not just happen; it is due to the continuous effort and cooperation among all of the elected officials, appointing authorities, and department heads.

“As the county’s chief financial officer, it is my pleasure to assure the taxpayers of Clinton County that their county government is financially strong, Habermehl added.
