WILMINGTON — Children and their grown-up friends are invited to discover the monkey business that’s happening at the Murphy Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 11. That’s when Madcap Puppets come to town to perform “Monkey See, Monkey Do” at 2 p.m., with face painting prior to the show.

“Monkey See, Monkey Do” is free for up to three children (14 and under) with a paying adult, thanks to sponsors Smith-Feike-Minton Insurance, Air Transport Service Group, and Donatos Pizza.

The price of admission for adults is $11.50, which includes a service fee from the ticketing agent), but adults can pick up a coupon at Donatos (no purchase necessary) for $3.50 off the ticket cost. That means local sponsors have made it possible for four people to attend the show for just $8 total. An online code for the $3.50 coupon is available after opting in to the Murphy system by texting murphy1918 to 444999.

Free face painting will be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. by the Leadership Clinton County Youth Council of Blanchester.

Madcap Puppets, based in Cincinnati, is nationally recognized for engaging and original children’s theater productions. In “Monkey See, Monkey Do, Max and Vinnie are expert zookeepers, but keeping the rascally monkeys from getting into trouble is easier said than done. When Mr. Cleaver, the zoo manager, decides to send one of the monkeys to another zoo, it’s time for their great escape. Children can explore new exhibits at each zoo along with the monkeys. Each one is a backdrop for exciting stories from around the world.

The Murphy Theatre will host another fun-for-all-ages show April 8 with Johnny Peers & the Muttville Comix, a slapstick comedy act with a dozen dogs that has appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman” and with Ringling Bros. Circus. Admission price to the 7 p.m. Muttville Comix show is $18.50 for adults, with up to three children 14 and under free with a paying adult. Look for a $3.50 coupon from Donatos for that show as well.

Tickets for Madcap Puppets or Muttville Comix are available at the box office at 50 W. Main St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; by calling (937) 382-3643; or by ordering online at www.themurphytheatre.org.
