WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Rotary Clubs in conjunction with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are grateful for the service and sacrifices of all veterans. And thanks to the generosity of Clinton County residents and businesses, more than 130 of the county’s World War II, Korean and Vietnam War veterans received a sponsorship, 80 of whom made the trip to Washington, D.C. last fall with Honor Flight Dayton on the first Clinton County Honor Flight.
Committee Chairman Jack Powell announced that there are 55 seats reserved on Flight #2, scheduled for April 29, and the committee is now in the process of filling them.
It has also been noted that participation in an Honor Flight is truly an emotionally gratifying and rewarding experience for any veteran. Therefore, the Clinton County Honor Flight Committee would like to send some of the county’s “Post 9-11 Veterans” on the next flight as guardians. By doing so, these veterans will have the opportunity to not only visit the various monuments and memorials, but also enhance their mutual bond by sharing the experience with a veteran of another era.
