COLUMBUS — Col. Steven E. Stivers is being promoted to brigadier general after a more than 30-year career in the Ohio Army National Guard. He is also one of the highest-ranking National Guard members to simultaneously serve as a member of the U.S. Congress, as a Republican currently serving Ohio’s 15th District.
Stivers served the United States overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Djibouti, where he led 400 soldiers and contractors. He received the Bronze Star for his leadership throughout the deployment.
The promotion ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at the drill floor, Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory, 2825 W. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus.
