WPD: Meth mixed with fentanyl, carfentanil

0

WILMINGTON — We had an unusual Friday where we took several reports in a short period of time regarding overdose calls. We handled two overdose calls in less than 30 minutes and a total of five overdose calls in the two-day period.

No fatalities occurred. We are seeing lab reports where suspected methamphetamines were seized only to find it mixed with fentanyl and carfentanil. If you know someone that is using drugs, this would be a good time to remind them the dangers associated with this risky behavior.

We handled 292 calls for service with 29 arrests. Over the week some arrests that stand out include: Paulina Hichting, 40, of Wilmington for alleged theft; Jake Robinson, 21, of Westerville for alleged disorderly conduct at an emergency facility; Chris Harnish, 29, of Wilmington for alleged drug paraphernalia; Scott Hamilton, 34, of Wilmington for alleged possession of drug abuse instrument; Elizabeth Reffit, 25, of Wilmington for alleged theft; Cheri Faries, 32, of Canal Winchester for allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence; and Keisha Baughn, 30, of Wilmington for alleged theft.

We continue to receive a high volume of suspicious person calls. This is much appreciated, as it helps to curb thefts in our neighborhoods.

This past week we had 11 theft reports. While the majority are thefts that occurred at a business, we have had a few theft of bikes and thefts of cash or prescriptions stolen from inside residences, where they believe a family member or friend stole the cash or prescription.
