ECHS is ready to rock

East Clinton High School performs the musical Rock of Ages 101 — High School Edition this Friday and Saturday night at the Murphy Theatre in Wilmington.

Rock of Ages takes audiences back to the big rock, big band, big personalities of the 1980s. The show features a wannabe rocker in his pursuit of rock and roll greatness while meeting “that girl.”

Meanwhile, the legendary Dupree’s Bourbon Room, a place where rock bands get their start and fans get the true rock experience, faces a developer set on tearing up the Sunset Strip. Protestors cry out “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, but it might not be until “The Final Countdown” before you get to see if the Bourbon Room gets saved, the young lovers say “The Search is Over”, or the wannabe gets his wish: “I Wanna Rock.”

The Murphy Theatre curtain rises at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online on the East Clinton High School website and at the school. Tickets are also available at the door — $5 for students and $8 for adults.
