Meet school superintendents Sept. 17 at library

Community Conversations: Meet the Superintendents will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Wilmington Public Library (the date was not published in Wednesday’s News Journal). Meet and ask questions of school superintendents: Ron Sexton, Wilmington City Schools; David Baits, Clinton-Massie Local Schools; and Tony Long, Southern Ohio Educational Service Center. Community Conversations is a monthly program at the library.

Benefit for Davises on Saturday

A cancer benefit for Bill and Andrea Davis will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Laurel Oaks.

Bill works for Laurel Oaks and has been struggling with throat and neck cancer. Andrea is a teacher at East Clinton and is battling breast cancer. This benefit will assist them with their medical expenses as they travel to and from Ohio State University for treatments, medications, doctor visits, and all other medical costs.

At the benefit there will be a live auction with an auctioneer beginning at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday. A silent auction will go until 6 p.m. There will also be a DJ, food and baked goods for sale, and games to play.

Bill and Andrea have two boys: Kyle who is a senior at Wilmington College, and Chad who is a junior at Wilmington High School.

“Come join us for an afternoon of fun, and show your support for this deserving family,” said a spokesperson.

Utility Billing Office hours for Thursday

The Wilmington Utility Billing Office will be closed from 2-3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10 so employees can attend a training session. Payments placed in the night drop box will be processed when the office re-opens at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Roads to close for crossing work

Beginning Friday, Sept. 11, weather permitting, Hales Branch Road and Frazier Road will be closed at the railroad tracks for work on the crossings on each road, according to the Clinton County Engineer’s Office. The work is being performed by Greenfield Railroad.

The roads should be open by Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Eleazer Road to be closed for one week

Eleazer Road between New Burlington Road in Clinton County and East Spring Valley Paintersville Road in Greene County will be closed for one week beginning Monday, Sept. 28, according to the Greene County Engineer’s Office. The closure is to replace a culvert, weather permitting.
