WILMINGTON — Wilmington College will help make a difference in the fight against cancer by hosting a community blood drive Thursday, Sept. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Kelley Center McCoy Room, 300 Quaker Way.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive the special-edition “Every Donor Makes a Difference — Give Hope, Give Blood” T-shirt. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 1-800-388-GIVE.

The “Make a Difference” campaign begins after Labor Day and continues through September National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and October National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everyone who registers to donate Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Oct. 31 at any CBC Donor Center and most CBC mobile blood drives will receive the “Every Donor Makes a Difference – Give Hope, Give Blood” t-shirt. The design features a “fight cancer” ribbon composed of multi-colored ribbons representing the many types of cancer.

Your donation will help cancer patients and many others in need of blood transfusions and other blood products. We especially encourage the continued support of type O whole blood donors and type A/B platelet and plasma donors.

Blood donation requirements are: Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors are also asked to bring their CBC donor ID card. Donors must be at least 16 years of age (16 years old with parental consent: form available at www.givingblood.org or at CBC branch and blood drive locations), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good physical health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically. Individuals with eligibility questions are invited to email [email protected] or call 1(800)388-GIVE.
