WILMINGTON —The Wilmington High School March Students of the Month have been announced.

The Agriculture Department recognizes Curtis Gauche for his leadership as the program has recently gone through a difficult change. He continues to work diligently to keep the FFA moving forward.

The Art Department recognizes Sophie Burt for putting forth her best effort in the class, asking for recommendations, and seeking ideas for improvement. Sophie is eager to assist other students and is a consistent source of positivity and support. She comes to class prepared, has a wonderful attitude, and has never submitted a late assignment.

The Business Department recognizes Jonathan Fender for maintaining a positive attitude and completing exceptional work in class.

The Choral Department recognizes Margaret (Maggie) Shumaker for efficiently, yet quietly, doing what is asked of her on a daily basis. She is a member of two high school choirs and willingly participates in all classroom activities. Maggie also regularly serves as a student aid for one of the middle school choirs and serves as a positive role model to younger students. She actively looks for ways in which to participate with the younger students, such as singing with them or demonstrating rhythms in front of the class.

The English Department recognizes Sophia Blessing for serving as a model student throughout the school year. She consistently comes to class with a positive attitude and is ready to learn.

The Foreign Language Department recognizes Xavier Disney for his outstanding work as a Spanish student. Xavier is well prepared for class and actively participates. He is a diligent and hardworking student who serves as a positive role model for his peers.

The Health and Physical Education Department recognizes Hannah Joeckel for her positive attitude and preparedness for class. Hannah actively participates and brings an interesting point of view to class discussions.

The Math Department recognizes Shilie Cohmer for her outstanding work in Algebra 1. Shilie consistently prepares for class, is a positive influence, and serves as a role model among her peers.

The Science Department recognizes Maddie Stoops for continuously demonstrating high levels of effort, maturity, and understanding in biology class. Her meaningful and thought-provoking insights consistently help progress the class environment.

The Social Studies Department recognizes Chelsea Cordy for her positive attitude and a great work ethic. She works well with others and is always willing to help her classmates.

The Theatre Department recognizes Brittany Barnett for her dedication to her academics and her school community. Brittany is currently enrolled in two theatre courses — Acting 2 and Speech — and was also involved in the spring musical, Godspell. Brittany works hard to balance her very full life. She often sacrifices personal time in order to keep up with her studies, participate in cheerleading, take dance classes, and be involved in vocal music and theatre. Her eagerness to participate in the classroom and beyond and her willingness to put forth extra effort have made her a model student of WHS.
