Science show or storybook? BHS students teach and entertain

BLANCHESTER — Advanced chemistry students recently hosted another successful chemistry show for both fourth-graders and other Blanchester High School science classes.

The biannual event, lead by chemistry teacher Andrea Harpen, found itself to be straight out of a storybook, as the theme was fairy tales. Honors Chemistry II class took this theme and ran with it, molding their experiments to include fairy tale creatures, from Disney princesses to perilous dragons.

As the fourth-graders of Blanchester Intermediate School watched the older students create stories and explosions alike, many of them found themselves in on the acts.

With nearly every experiment needing an assistant, the children were eager to help. From mixing chemicals to aiding explosions, the fourth-graders were nearly as busy as the 11th-graders!

With yet another triumphant Chem Demo under their belt, Mrs. Harpen’s junior classes proudly displayed what they’ve learned this year. Based on the reactions of the crowd, many can happily say that the progress made in the class was entirely beneficial.
