Murphy to become Muttville

WILMINGTON — Sit! Stay! Get ready to howl! Johnny Peers and his personality-plus canines are coming to the Murphy Theatre at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 8.

Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix is a slapstick comedy act like no other. Johnny Peers leads more than a dozen dogs through challenging and hilarious tricks as Johnny plays the straight man role in this wonderful show.

Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix have appeared in Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus and on “Late Night with David Letterman,” and they were winners of Animal Planet’s “Pet Star.” They have appeared at Disneyland, Busch Gardens, the Big Apple Circus, the Royal Hanneford Circus, and the White House.

“The thing I found most endearing was the fact that Johnny uses ‘mutts’ rather than the usual ‘show dogs’—they are all cute and well trained,” said Sally Bilancia of Bangor, Maine. “The audiences get more of a connection because they look like ‘the dog next door.’ Johnny puts on a family-friendly show that all ages find entertaining.”

Children 14 and under are FREE with a paying adult to see the Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix show at the Murphy Theatre. Limit three children per adult. Ticket prices are $18.50. Pick up a $3.50 coupon at Donatos Pizza, Smith-Feike-Minton Insurance or at the theatre box office. Tickets can be purchased at www.themurphytheatre.org or contact the box office at (937) 382-3643.

A “Split the pot” drawing will take place before the show, and a portion of the funds raised will go to the Clinton County Humane Society. After the show, Johnny welcomes children to the stage to have a picture taken with their favorite dog for a $3 donation, of which $1 will go to the Clinton County Humane Society and $2 will go to the Humane Society of Marion County in Fairmont West Virginia (http://www.mchswv.org/).
