Have fun, help out the CCYC: Disc golf fundraiser April 22

WILMINGTON — The Clinton County Youth Council (CCYC) will host a Fundraiser Disc Golf Scramble Tournament event on Saturday, April 22. Funds will be used to keep the CCYC youth center open for programming during summer hours.

The fundraising goal is $10,000.

CCYC is a free after-school youth center that provides a daily snack/meal, educational programming, and mentoring opportunities for youth in grades 6-12.

“Historically CCYC has closed during the summer months because of limited funding and capacity,” said CCYC Executive Director Eric Guindon. “We are committed to our goal of providing much needed summer programming for youth in grades 6-12 this summer.”

Leadership Clinton class of 2017 is co-hosting the fundraiser event.

“Funds to keep the CCYC open this summer is such a great need. These kids need CCYC and CCYC needs the community’s support,” said Latasha Ruddle, Leadership Clinton class member and Events Coordinator at Ohio Living Cape May. Ruddle attended CCYC programming as a youth and currently has a nephew who attends regularly.

“Too often at-risk kids find it easier to conform to their environment because they lack resources to help them overcome the obstacles that are in their everyday lives and become successful. CCYC is there to help these kids break down barriers and help them be successful,” said Ruddle.

Registration for the disc golf event is $75 for a three-person team scramble. No experience is necessary and discs will be provided to participants. Lunch, provided by Sam’s Meats, is included in registration.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals, businesses, and organizations. A tee sign sponsorship is $150 and donor receives a metal sign with their logo/design on the CCYC disc golf course for two years. “Event sponsor” is at the $50 level . Custom CCYC stamped fundraiser golf discs and t-shirts are available for purchase.

Raffle prizes are also being accepted as donations. For more information on sponsorship opportunities or to register for the event, contact Eric Guindon at 937-728-3523.

The disc golf tournament will coincide with CCYC’s annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) event. GYSD is “a coordinated annual event which gathers young people around the world in conducting community service, service learning, and youth voice activities that benefit their communities, their countries, and the world. “

CCYC students, staff, volunteers, and community members will come together to perform a litter clean-up of the Luther Warren Peace Path bike trail that is adjacent to the CCYC property.
